Old Beam Flashlight turned into Potting Soil Shovel Diggers ~ Re-Cycle Up-cycle Re-Use

                                             

I was over-joyed yesterday when my husband gave me a second old broken flash beam light! I just took off the screws and had two pieces that I use for digging out of the very large bag the products I use to make potting soil.

I make my own soil since we have a lot of clay here by using sphagnum peat moss , sand, and Good Ol' Mother Earth, topsoil, sometimes potting soil.  I add bone meal to this and this re-cycled Up-cycled Shovel Digger helps me to collect my sphagnum peat soil and from the large bag it comes in. Same thing with vermiculite if I use it and I collect sand for mixing as filler. It makes my potting soil much less compact for my gardening.  

Just an idea I saw in this Old Flashlight Beam ready for the trash!

BTW, the background for these photos are SNOW! 

We had 4-6 inches of snow last week on top of the 4 inches we already had on the ground, crunch , crunch and now mush, mush:

And after I took the snow off, it is as perky and green as ever! The British Soldier are thriving and looking good. 

This one across from the other I put leaves on top of the Succulents here and have not completely got them out yet, I pull on the leaf until it comes loose by itself.

OK, I got more leaves off here. 

I treated myself to these items on a Valentine Day sale

I adore the owl card and just could not resist, The jello mold might be useful in crafting, and the Love to the Moon and Back is just me! I love it! 

I have also been cleaning out my warehouse to make more room and going through my crafting room in the attic to actually make room for crafting and moving out some STUFF or JUNK as my family calls it. I have boxes and bookcases full of Books and Magazines I have saved over the years and it is time to let them go to someone else, But, I love looking through them (like I have time) but, they make me smile and refresh my mind which I call " Mental Floss" 

When I laid them out, I was enchanted by them, can I let  them go? 

I will be listing in my "frstyfrolk Etsy Vintage store and Ebay listings"  ,the newer ones not yet vintage unless they can be supplies for crafting, great scrapbook pictures and my hand cut punches in many designs. 

Now, the Gnome nook I just got and it was handy, I will not be selling it anytime soon.  That is my thing, fairies, hobbits, gnomes, elves, sprites, and living in the forest I encounter little presents they leave for me to find with my forest finds and trinkets.  I look for moss and forest finds right out my front door and you can see in the  neighborhood from the winter pictures. 

They give me wonderful ideas to embellish my crafting projects when I need to get busy doing instead of always trying to focus on moving things around that is hard to me to let go! 

I have to let go in 2015!

Books Should Never Be Destroyed!

The Chattanooga Newspaper last weekend

 had this article about the UNITED STATES POST OFFICE SHREDDING BOOKS! 

I cannot believe it!

Someone, somewhere can use it!

I just last week purchase some Discard Library Books at the Friends of the Library for only 10 cents each! Talk about a great price, could it pass them up!

AT least, the do not destroy them, they pass them on to someone, somewhere who can use them. 

I can donate them to the Senior Center or read them, craft with them, or donate to a Thrift Shop who will probably sell them for $1.00-$2.00. 

They still are good readable books and Good Stories and I can see where the Library may need more room for new incoming books but Never Destroy a book, please! 

Many of what I got had been on the New York Best Seller List at one time even. 

Take care of these books!

Church Country Faire and Beautiful Roadsides!

I went to our neighbor's Church Country Faire over the weekend and found some lovely vintage books and 

a German Floral Calender! My husband had helped him take a few things during the week before and he saw a leather jacket he adored and spoke of repeatedly. You could no purchase anything until the sale started on Friday.

Well, come Friday I had absolutely no $$$ to go there but I did have some Etsy sales, ( thank goodness) on Saturday so I went by to see if they had it. Of course it had been purchased already but I did find these books and I got a grocery bag full of clothes for me for $1.00. My kind of sale. Church faires always had wonderful things donated and they were closing up Saturday and 2PM and would donate the rest of anything left to a charity organization.

Then yesterday our friend stopped by our house with a gift for my husband, guess what?, the leather jacket!

Here are my finds!

 The Jane Eyre book has no date in it but I is very old and the cover is worn but the inside is fabulous. I like the bright white paper and it feels so wonderful. I love to get read books rather than new, they fold open so much easier. I think I will read it and then put it in my "frstyfrolk" Etsy Vintage Shoppe.  Maybe the calendar also as  I have no room for it but the floral monthly graphics are fabulous for a mixed media project or framing!
I love reading Ernest Hemingway too and I have many of his books already but not some of these stories. I am fascinated by his life. His movies are fabulous also and his Paris Stories by his ex-wife I got at the library to read!  Just good reading. He was friends and partied with the Fitzgerald's
 of  "The Great Gatsby" and many artists. I can envision their life like hat Book and I can't wait to see the movie that was made this year!

With Halloween around the corner, the Edgar Allan Poe book will be a good read too. I have been going though my Halloween decor and put a collage box together for my Etsy "ByLightOfMoon" shop".

I have even been finding around the forest and abandoned sites my natural curiosities for Halloween Decor, grim and gruesome but, That's Nature sometimes! I love taking photos of old barns and buildings usually find huge wasp nests, I also got some from a tree hole in our forest last winter.

If fact, I found a couple this morning when I took some photos of an abandoned vine covered building and railroad tracks. Our countryside is just beautiful with all the fall blooming plants! I took many photos last Sunday on the way to and from our warehouse of the roadside flowers and plants, trees, and barns.
 I am  drying some goldenrod and hydrangea's and looking for more bittersweet like the wreaths, brooms,and baskets  made last year! The "Purple Iron weed"  is fabulous too. I just learned what it is and of course, "Joe Pye" Weed is awesome.
